So this is a way better example of a shallow depth of field. If the challenge was still open this would have been the shot to submit. I was just trying to take a picture of Missouri weedling her way onto my lap despite the fact that I had already given my laptop that place. Ended up with an awesome shot of her nose behind which the rest of her face of her face is blurry and I love it! This shows you exactly what can be achieved with a shallow depth of field as well as some of the artistic reasons to use it.

Very artistic indeed! So, why is it that when I try to do a shot like this (Jake gave me some awesome flowers, and I was practicing on them) I can't make it work? What am I doing wrong, or do I just not know how to work my camera? When I try, everything end up blurry, or it focuses on something other than what I am going for... maybe I'll never be as cool as you...
Look at you go! This shot is fantastic! You have a natural eye for the camera and I love it!
